Google Unveils First Directly Operated Store Outside US in Tokyo
Google has opened its first directly operated store outside of the US in Tokyo, Japan. The Google Store Omotesando, located at Tokyu Plaza Omotesando 'Omokado', is a three-storey location that showcases Google's latest hardware, including the Pixel 11 series smartphone and Pixel Watch.
The store also features Fitbit wearables, Google Home devices, and accessories. It serves as a collection point for Google Store purchases made online and offers hands-on experiences with Google's technology and AI capabilities.
The second floor houses Pixel Studio, an interactive space where visitors can explore a range of AI-powered experiences. The store also features Project Genie, a research prototype that can generate 3D virtual worlds from text prompts.
This new store marks the 25th anniversary of Google's operations in Japan, which began with the establishment of its first overseas office in Tokyo in 2001.
