Google Unveils New Pixel Phones with AI-Packed Features and Slimmer Cameras

Google has unveiled its latest lineup of Pixel phones, featuring slimmer cameras and more AI features. The new phones include the Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro, and Pixel 11 Pro XL, with prices starting at $900, $1,100, and $1,300 respectively. These devices come with improved storage size, starting at 256 gigabytes, and longer battery life of up to 30 hours.

The new AI features include live translation for videos, podcasts, and voice messages, as well as a tool called HiLight that assigns a color to favorite contacts and lights up the phone when they call. The Pro models also feature an improved camera with Instant Night Sight, which captures shots in dark environments faster. Additionally, Google has introduced a tracking device called Pixel Tag, compatible with phones running Android 9 or higher.

Forrester senior analyst Andrew Cornwall noted that 'Google continues to tout new software features, primarily around AI, as the reason to upgrade.' The company is hoping to hook more people on its AI Gemini tool kit, which it assembled to compete against OpenAI's ChatGPT. Those who purchase the Pixel 11 Pro or Pixel 11 Pro XL models will receive a free six-month subscription to Google's AI Pro plan.

The new phones also feature improved light sensitivity and a new mode called Magic Capture, which automatically takes a series of photos and video with a single tap of the shutter button. The cameras on the Pro models can capture shots in dark environments faster, eliminating the need for users to hold their phone still while waiting for exposure.
