Google Unveils Tensor G6 with Post-Quantum Security for Pixel 11 Series
Google has introduced its new Tensor G6 chip for the Pixel 11 series, which promises improved performance and efficiency. The Tensor G6 is paired with a Titan M3 security coprocessor that adheres to post-quantum cryptography standards set by NIST.
The Tensor G6 claims to deliver 25% faster browsing and 15% faster app loading compared to its predecessor, the Tensor G5. It also boasts up to 20% better power efficiency and features a TPU with 50% more compute capacity.
The Titan M3 security coprocessor is designed to protect against 'emerging, highly advanced digital attacks' and holds Common Criteria certification at the level used for SIM and bank cards. This means it can handle quantum-safe secure boot and run Trusty, Google's trusted execution environment, across all four Pixel 11 models.
Google has also emphasized that post-quantum security is essential to protect against data breaches that may be exploited by quantum computers in the future. The company notes that no quantum computer can break current encryption but emphasizes that data stolen today can still be decrypted later using a powerful enough machine.
