Google Unveils Voice-Activated Features for Gmail, Docs, and Keep

Google has expanded its AI features to make it easier for users to interact with Gmail, Google Docs, and Google Keep. The company is introducing three new tools that use voice commands to allow users to search emails, write texts, and record thoughts without pressing a key.

The 'Gmail Live' feature searches stored emails via voice command and provides an answer to the user's question directly. This allows users to quickly find information such as flight departures or upcoming appointments by simply asking their assistant. The response is compiled from existing messages without needing to open individual emails.

Google Docs is also getting a new voice feature called 'Docs Live' that enables users to speak their ideas aloud to create a first draft. The function helps structure thoughts and provides phrasing suggestions, creating a conversational manner for writing texts more effectively.

The third innovation is 'Keep Live', aimed at Google Keep users who can now simply speak their thoughts instead of typing them. The feature automatically creates structured notes or lists and organizes information clearly. Initially, the new tools are not available to all users but will be rolled out gradually starting September 3, 2026.

Business customers of Google Workspace will also receive the new features later. Currently, 'Gmail Live' and 'Keep Live' are only reserved for Google AI Plus, Google AI Pro, and Google AI Ultra plans, while 'Docs Live' is available to subscribers of Google AI Pro and Google AI Ultra.
