Google Wallet Lets Parents Send Tap-To-Pay Money to Kids in US
Google has introduced a new feature to its Google Wallet app that allows parents in the US to send their children money for tap-to-pay transactions without opening a bank account. This feature is part of Family Link, an app already used by parents to manage their kids' screen time and app permissions.
The process involves setting up a secure balance on the child's Google Wallet, which can be funded by parents using their own account. Kids can then use their NFC-enabled Android phone or Wear OS smartwatch to make payments in stores just like an adult would with Google Pay.
Parents maintain control over their kids' spending through Family Link, where they can transfer money directly into the child's balance, set a spending limit, and monitor transaction history. If something looks off, parents can instantly lock the balance to prevent further transactions.
