Google Wins Auction for Spirit Airlines' Internal Data
Google has won an auction to buy Spirit Airlines' internal data for $10 million in a deal linked to the US airline's bankruptcy proceedings.
The sale includes approximately 100 million emails, 500 million Microsoft Teams messages, and 30 million lines of code, as well as the company's pricing models and financial databases.
Google plans to use this set of information to improve its artificial intelligence products and systems. However, the sale remains under judicial discussion due to concerns about worker privacy.
The auction was initially won by Micro1 with a proposal of $12.5 million, but Google's bid was accepted before the sale could be finalized.
