Marvell Technology has entered into an agreement with Google to develop custom chips for the tech giant. The deal, announced on August 19th, includes a warrant that gives Google the option to buy up to 58.97 million Marvell shares at $206.58 apiece.

If fully exercised, this would be worth approximately $12.18 billion, making Google one of Marvell's largest investors.

The agreement comes as companies are seeking cheaper alternatives to Nvidia's graphics processors and technologies better suited for inference, the process of running trained AI models.
