Google Workspace Introduces Built-In Microsoft 365 Migration Tool
Google Workspace has rolled out a built-in Microsoft 365 migration tool to simplify the transition process for businesses. This new feature allows administrators to import users and data directly from Microsoft environments during the initial setup process.
The migration tool supports email, OneDrive files, calendars, contacts, and tasks, reducing the effort required to get a new Workspace deployment operational. Google aims to make switching from Microsoft easier, particularly for small businesses and educational institutions that evaluate a transition from Microsoft's ecosystem.
However, there are limitations for enterprise customers. The automated process currently supports up to 10 Microsoft users, requiring alternative methods for larger migrations. Organizations must also complete domain verification and email configuration before importing data, and certain licensing requirements apply depending on the Workspace subscription plan.
