Google's $10M Bid for Spirit Airlines Data Sparks Flight Attendant Concerns
Google's $10 million bid for Spirit Airlines' internal enterprise dataset has raised concerns among former flight attendants. The data includes emails, messages, and lines of code from over 17,000 employees, including about 100 million emails, 500 million Microsoft Teams items, and 30 million recorded customer service calls.
The Association of Flight Attendants-CWA, which represents Spirit Airlines flight attendants, has filed a limited objection to the sale. They argue that the data includes sensitive employee records and should not be sold at all.
Google plans to use the data to train AI models on how businesses operate behind closed doors, including handling disputes and customer complaints, writing code, and managing logistics.
