Google's $17 Billion Data Center Takes Shape in Cheyenne
Google has taken over Crusoe's $17 billion-plus data center project in Cheyenne, Wyoming. The 700-acre campus will feature four data centers, evaporative wastewater lagoons, a logistics center, and a two-story office building when fully operational by the end of 2031.
The project, called Project Tembo, promises to implement the latest technologies to minimize Google's local footprint. This includes a closed-loop cooling system that will keep water consumption relatively low. The site plans to draw water from an aquifer 1,500 feet underground and replenish 120% of what it consumes through regional projects.
Google is partnering with Related Digital as the lead developer for the project and has committed to hiring 2,500 construction workers during peak development and around 250 during operation. The company also plans to become one of the largest taxpayers in Laramie County, contributing tens of millions of dollars annually.
