Google's $68M Settlement Fund: Claim Your Share by August 27
Texans have until Thursday, August 27, 2026, to file a claim for a share of a $68 million settlement fund established by Google in a lawsuit over its Google Assistant feature. The company's artificial intelligence technology was accused of recording conversations without users' consent.
The lawsuit alleges that between May 18, 2016, and March 19, 2026, Google Assistant was able to activate and record communications even when users did not intentionally activate it with a trigger word like “Okay Google” or manually turn on the feature. The company used these recordings to disclose them to third parties.
To claim a share of the settlement fund, individuals must complete and submit a claim form by the deadline. Those who received an email notice should use their Unique ID and PIN, while minors need a parent or guardian's signature.
