Google has started randomly showing AI-generated overviews for local search results, but it's often pulling from low-quality listicles.

According to Joy Hawkins, who posted an example on X, Google is citing self-promotional articles from across the web when generating these snippets.

Hawkins' screenshot shows that Google is quoting a single lawyer's listicle for every law firm listed in the results, linking to it instead of the firms' websites.

This raises concerns about the quality and accuracy of Google's AI-generated information, as well as its potential impact on local businesses.
