Google's AI Pro Plan Available Free to Some Users

Google's AI Pro subscription plan offers several benefits, including access to premier models like Gemini 3.1 Pro and 3.6 Flash, four times higher usage limits for reasoning and context models, huge context windows, Workspace integration, 5TB of cloud storage, Google Health Premium, and a YouTube Premium Lite individual plan. The plan costs $19.99 per month.

The good news is that some users may be able to get this subscription for free. College students can get one year of AI Pro for free by verifying their student status with SheerID. To do this, they'll need a personal Google account and a Google Pay account with payment attached.

New device owners also qualify for a free AI Pro subscription. Buying the Chromebook Plus will give users 12 months of AI Pro for free, while purchasing a standard Chromebook or a Pixel 11 will earn them three or six months, respectively. The most affordable Chromebook Plus is the Acer 515 at $420.

Another way to get AI Pro benefits for free is by being a family member of someone who already has the subscription. Up to five family members can receive select AI Pro benefits and features without paying extra, but not every benefit will transfer.
