Google's Android 17 QPR2 Beta Cycle Nears End with Platform Stability
Google's Android 17 QPR2 beta cycle is nearing its end after four iterations. The latest Beta 4 has reached Platform Stability, locking the API surface for developers to test apps ahead of the update reaching users more broadly.
This milestone means that Google has fixed various issues and polished the system, with no planned behavior changes in the small SDK update. Some of the resolved bugs include overheating and reboots, broken gesture navigation, and a transparent status bar issue.
Other fixes include problems with battery-limit charging, Recents screen freezing or clipping app cards, Bluetooth call audio routing issues, and screen-recording audio causing microphones to be unavailable to apps like Gboard and Gemini. Additionally, hardware support has been improved with fixes for USB-C XR mirroring, 3D smart-glasses displays, and low-light Face Unlock.
While some testers have reported minor issues such as oversized text and a lower display resolution after installing the update, overall user feedback has been positive, with several Pixel owners noting improved performance and stability in Beta 4.
