Google's Display & Video 360 Platform Undergoes Major Overhaul with 12 Key Updates
Google's Display & Video 360 platform is undergoing significant changes, with over a dozen updates scheduled between March and August 2026. The overhaul affects various aspects of the platform, including policy, planning, deal workflow, reporting infrastructure, creative rotation logic, and audience targeting methodology.
The changes aim to consolidate the platform's technical foundations while retiring controls that date back to the early programmatic era. One notable policy change is the expansion of digital out-of-home advertising to include alcohol promotion in jurisdictions where it's permitted. In Brazil, online gambling promotion has also been expanded to DOOH formats.
Another significant update is the shift from cookie-based audience reach to impression volume forecasting for campaign planning and forecasting. This change reflects the industry's move away from cookie-dependent measurement towards impression-based forecasting.
