Google's Fairwind Program Brings Advanced AI Vulnerability Detection to Select Orgs

Google has launched a new program called Fairwind that provides select organizations access to a more capable version of Gemini, its AI model for finding and patching software vulnerabilities. The Fairwind Program combines Google's Gemini 3.8 Flash Cyber model with CodeMender, its AI agent for vulnerability remediation.

Initially, the program includes government agencies, Google Cloud customers, and cybersecurity partners, with priority given to organizations such as critical infrastructure operators and maintainers of widely used software. Participating organizations must restrict access to employees working in areas like cybersecurity, incident response, and penetration testing and use protections including multifactor authentication.

Google said more than 650 organizations are participating in the program globally. The Fairwind Program gives Google a formal path to distribute its cybersecurity capabilities, which it has previously kept under restricted access due to concerns about the potential for advanced cybersecurity models to be used for both defensive and offensive purposes.
