Google's Gemini AI App Surpasses 1 Billion Monthly Active Users
Google's Gemini AI app has reached an impressive milestone of 1 billion monthly active users, making it the 14th product in Google's history to achieve this mark. This achievement surpasses Alphabet Inc.'s previous estimates, which had projected 650 million monthly users in October and 750 million by February. The company announced this milestone in a blog post from Josh Woodward, Vice President of Google Labs, Gemini, and AI Studio.
According to Google's data, 63% of Gemini users interact with the app using voice commands, with a growing number relying solely on voice interactions. Parents are more likely to use voice for everyday tasks, at a rate of 43% higher than other users. Additionally, one in five interactions with Gemini Live involve live camera feeds or screen sharing, and 38% of school-related requests include attachments.
The app generates over 150 million images daily and has more than 100 million active users on iOS devices. Power users on macOS prompt about twice as often as users on other surfaces. Gemini can also trigger actions across more than 40 apps, showcasing its versatility and capabilities.
As for future updates, Google plans to add support for over 60 additional regional dialects, expand app automations, and introduce new study tools in the coming weeks. However, the company has not disclosed revenue figures or subscriber counts for its paid tiers, which start at $7.99 a month for Google AI Plus and reach up to $100 a month for Google AI Ultra.
