Google's Hidden Goldmine: $234B Windfall Lurking in Stakes on SpaceX and Anthropic
Alphabet's Google is sitting on an enormous potential windfall of $234 billion thanks to its stakes in SpaceX and Anthropic. According to recent filings, Google owns a 6.1% stake in SpaceX and a 14% stake in Anthropic. These stakes are currently valued at around $76 billion and $50 billion respectively, but could nearly double when the two companies go public later this year.
SpaceX is targeting an IPO valuation of $2 trillion, while Anthropic is aiming for over $800 billion. Both companies are expected to list in the fourth quarter of 2026, with retail investors already gaining exposure through funds such as Fundrise Innovation Fund and those run by Cathie Wood's Ark Investment Management.
The quantum of Google's shareholding may have changed somewhat after Anthropic raised a $30 billion round at a $380 billion valuation in February. However, based on Stocktwits' calculations, Google's stakes in SpaceX and Anthropic are worth around $76 billion and $50 billion respectively.
