Google's Jeff Dean Shares His Secrets for Healthy Joints Amid Intense Workout Routine
Jeff Dean, Google's former chief scientist, has revealed his secrets for maintaining joint health despite an intense weekly workout schedule. After 27 years at Google, where he was the company's 30th employee and held a top research position, Dean left to lead AI startup Discovery Loop.
Dean shared that he relies on 'squishy' running shoes, replacing them regularly, and using arch support inserts to reduce the impact of running. He also admitted that his ankles remain his biggest concern due to multiple basketball sprains earlier in life.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Dean shared details about his weekly fitness routine, which includes two soccer matches, two gym sessions, two yoga classes, and long runs or cycling sessions over the weekends. He emphasized the importance of taking care of joints, particularly with high-impact activities like running and basketball.
Dean's tips for protecting knees and ankles are relatively simple: using 'squishy' shoes, replacing them often, and incorporating arch support inserts into his routine.
