Google's Payment for Solar Field Sparks Concern Over Entergy Contract
The Arkansas Public Service Commission reviewed Entergy's contract last year, with one of the points of contention being Google's contribution to the construction of a solar field and battery plant tied to its West Memphis data center.
The $4 billion project is intended to power Google's search and artificial intelligence capabilities. The company has been working on the facility just outside West Memphis since 2026, with construction ongoing as of June 1st of that year.
Concerns over Google's payment for the solar field and battery plant sparked discussion at the Arkansas Public Service Commission last year.
