Google's September Pixel Drop Brings VIP Contact Upgrades and Scam Detection Enhancements
Google's September Pixel Drop has arrived, bringing upgrades to VIP contacts, scam detection, and Pixel Watch features. The update is now live on Pixel phones, tablets, and watches worldwide.
The most significant change is the revamped VIP contact feature, which gets a new home-screen experience. With this upgrade, users can call or text their favorite contacts with just one tap, and receive notification badges for unread or urgent messages. A floating navigation bar also allows users to swipe between VIP profiles without digging through menus.
Scam Detection has been expanded to cover more languages and regions for chat notifications, and Gboard can now flag suspicious messages directly as you type. The update applies to Pixel 6 and newer phones, provided the required Contacts and Pixel VIPs app versions are installed.
Pixel Watch also receives an upgrade with new gestures and features. Raise to Talk gets enhancements on Pixel Watch 4 and newer models, while users of Pixel Watch 3 and newer can launch and scroll through the notification tray using a one-handed pinch gesture.
