Google's Vizag AI Hub Construction Underway with Completion Targeted for Late 2028
Google's ambitious AI hub in Visakhapatnam is making progress with construction already underway. The company broke ground on the 1 GW data centre project in April this year and expects the first phase to be completed within 24-30 months, with initial operations likely by late 2028.
The Vizag AI hub will combine data centres, renewable energy, power transmission, and high-speed connectivity. According to Google executive Alexander Smith, all phases of the 1 GW data centre are targeted for completion within five years as part of the company's $15 billion commitment to India between 2026 and 2030.
The project aims to strengthen Andhra Pradesh's position in the country's growing AI and data centre ecosystem. Google's investment is expected to have a significant impact on the region, making it an important player in the digital infrastructure landscape.
