Google's latest wearable device has been spotted in an FCC filing, which suggests it may be a fitness tracker running Wear OS.
The device, manufactured by Goertek and bearing the model number G8BL6, appears to have a screen and supports Bluetooth LE and GPS connectivity. However, its lack of Wi-Fi raises questions about how it would function as a full-fledged smartwatch.
The FCC filing is significant because it follows an earlier teaser in Pixel 11 ads that showed an unfamiliar wearable device alongside the company's phones and Pixel Watches. The pill-shaped device had a narrow vertical display and a band similar to the Pixel Watch, leading some to speculate that it might be a new fitness tracker.
The Goertek G8BL6 model number is unusual in that it follows the format typically used by Google for its first-party hardware. The device's electronic regulatory label can be accessed through Settings > System > Regulatory Information, which matches the path used on the Pixel Watch.
