Google's Wyoming Data Center Expansion Clears Hurdle with Office Building Approval

Google's Project Tembo data center in Laramie County, Wyoming has taken another step forward. On September 10, 2026, the county Planning Commission approved a conditional use permit for a two-story office building to be built alongside the planned 700-acre facility.

The project, which was initially led by Crusoe but is now owned and operated by Google, represents an estimated $17 billion investment in the community. The new proposed site plan includes a road for construction and reduces the expected number of workers on-site during peak construction from five data center warehouses to four.

Google representatives emphasized that the office building will have a similar tech-focused culture as their Bay Area headquarters, with amenities such as a mechanical bull and culinary facilities. The building is not part of the main complex but rather sits adjacent to it on 32.83 acres of land.
