Gorham Planning Board Approves Controversial Amazon Facility
The Gorham Planning Board has approved a proposed Amazon warehouse facility in Gorham, Maine. The project had faced significant pushback from local residents, who expressed concerns about safety and traffic impact.
Opponents of the project were shocked by the vote, saying they did not see it coming. They argue that the warehouse does not fit with the character of their neighborhood.
The developers had reduced the size of the plan in an attempt to appease concerns, but this was not enough for some residents. 'They are really kind of deaf to our wishes,' said Gorham resident Nadia Margolis.
A group of residents is now gathering signatures to pass a moratorium to delay the project. United Gorham's Josh Trombley needs about 1,000 more signatures to potentially get the issue in front of voters.
