Gorham Residents Rally Against Proposed Amazon Facility

A group of about 50 protesters gathered in Gorham, Maine to voice their opposition to an Amazon warehouse and distribution facility planned for a 94-acre site. The land was sold to Amazon last year for $4 million, with plans for the 146,280-square-foot 'last mile' center.

The protest, called 'A Day on the Land,' featured speakers discussing the potential negative impacts of the project, including traffic congestion, environmental damage, and low-value job creation. Councilors Seven Siegel and Lou Simms, who voted against the land sale last year, attended the rally and expressed their concerns.

Gorham United, an organization opposing the project, has launched a petition and GoFundMe campaign to fight the proposal. Over 1,000 people have signed the petition, including residents of neighboring towns, and $13,000 has been raised towards a $30,000 goal.
