Researchers on Reddit have been using Google Maps to search for deceased climbers on Mount Everest. In a post titled 'Google Maps Discovery' on the r/Everest subreddit, users are discussing a photo that appears to show something red amidst snow-dusted granite rocks.

The discussion has inspired some users to conduct their own pixel-by-pixel searches, while others believe it's a color artifact or a tent. Everest has claimed almost 350 climbers' lives, with most bodies left on the slopes due to the difficulty of retrieval.

However, melting glaciers have been revealing bodies, and in recent years, the Nepalese government has recovered four in 2019 and five in 2024. Additionally, they cleaned up trash left behind by climbers.
