Greece Speeds Up Golden Visa Processing Amid International Investment Boom
The Greek Golden Visa program is entering a new phase of accelerated processing and revised investment thresholds. After years of high demand, the authorities have implemented measures to improve efficiency, reducing waiting times for applicants. This change is significant because administrative efficiency has become an essential factor in determining a jurisdiction's competitiveness in the international residence-by-investment market.
Greece already offers many advantages, including a five-year renewable residence permit and no requirement for permanent residency. However, these benefits are now complemented by a more streamlined administrative process. The reduction in processing times will strengthen Greece's position as an attractive investment destination.
The Golden Visa program has undergone changes to its real-estate investment thresholds, with different minimum requirements depending on the location and type of property. In areas like Attica and Thessaloniki, investments must be at least €800,000, while in other regions, the threshold is €400,000. The €250,000 Golden Visa remains available for specific categories of properties, such as conversion and restoration projects.
