Green Data Centre Hub Planned for Former IBM Site in Inverclyde

Slate Island Developments Ltd has applied to Inverclyde Council for permission to transform the former IBM site at Spango Valley into a cutting-edge data centre hub.

The development would see four state-of-the-art data centre buildings covering around 80,000 square meters of floorspace, accompanied by landscaping and sustainable drainage infrastructure. The existing woodland surrounding the site will be preserved in its entirety.

This ambitious project is part of a broader initiative that includes a proposed Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). Slate Island Developments Ltd believes this regeneration plan offers an exciting opportunity to revive the long-vacant brownfield site and tap into the rapidly growing data centre sector, which the Scottish Government recognizes as crucial for Scotland's economic future.
