GTA 6 Publisher Hits Back with Subpoenas Over Leaked Content
Take-Two Interactive, parent company of Rockstar Games, has taken legal action against Microsoft and Discord in connection to leaks of Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6) content. The publisher filed formal subpoenas under the DMCA in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.
The move comes after a hacker group called CyberLeek claimed to have accessed a working build of GTA 6, publishing copyrighted materials on Microsoft's GitHub and Discord servers. Scott Van Vliet, technical director of Microsoft's gaming division, confirmed their cooperation with the legal requests.
Take-Two is seeking disclosure of IP addresses, registration data, phone numbers, device telemetry, and OneDrive account history related to the leak. The game is set for release on November 19 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles, with an exclusive screening scheduled for August 27 on Netflix.
