H-1B Visa Holder Shares Grueling Interview Experience Amid US Crackdown

An Indian H-1B visa holder recently shared their grueling 30-minute interview experience at the Hyderabad Consulate in India. The interviewers asked a series of technical and specific questions about the person's job role, company, colleagues, clients, education background, and even their travel history.

The interviewer asked the visa holder to explain their role, whether they worked for a client, how much they were paid, and how much they paid their employer for the H-1B. They also inquired about the project's name, duration, and expected completion time.

After being put into administrative processing, the visa holder was sent to another officer who asked more detailed questions about the project, team members, and office location. The second officer even asked if they could find the project on the company website or LinkedIn, but since it wasn't public yet, the visa holder couldn't provide a link.

The US administration has recently announced a major crackdown on H-1B visas, citing allegations of massive abuse in the system. Companies are accused of asking for money from H-1B holders and hiring them for client projects only to bench them without salary for months.
