Haunted Mansion Expansion Debunks Bar Rumors, Shows Separate Identity
The Magic Kingdom's Haunted Mansion expansion has been the subject of intense speculation among Disney fans and theme park enthusiasts. Recent rumors suggested that the iconic attraction would receive a themed bar or lounge, as well as a direct connection to the new Villains Land.
However, according to scale models revealed at the 2026 D23 Expo, these theories have been debunked. The models show that the Haunted Mansion will not be receiving a bar, nor will it be connected directly to Villains Land.
The source of the speculation was permit filings and early layout plans for the expansion. An initial filing outlined a massive 33-acre construction impact area behind Magic Kingdom, which sparked intense interest among fans. A subsequent permit filed in January 2026 revealed specific building layouts for both Villains Land and Piston Peak National Park.
The highly anticipated Haunted Mansion bar was thought to be located next to the mansion, based on a small, roughly 5,800-square-foot structure visible in the layout plans. However, the model at D23 revealed that this building is actually a restroom facility.
