Hawick Gets £4m McDonald's Boost
A new £4m McDonald's fast food outlet has been approved for Hawick in Scotland, bringing a significant economic boost to the town. The restaurant will create 100 new jobs and feature a 24-hour drive-thru facility, coffee shop, and electric vehicle charging hub.
The site, which was previously used as a car showroom and builders' yard, is expected to be a major draw for residents and visitors alike. The proposed development is set to bring in £50k-£60k per year in business rates alone.
Hawick councillor Watson McAteer described the announcement as 'fantastic news', saying it would encourage other businesses and chains to come to the town. The new outlet will also provide job creation and training opportunities for local residents, according to the planning application.
