Helix Expands: Microsoft's Next-Gen Xbox is a Family of Devices
Microsoft's Project Helix is not just one next-generation Xbox console as previously thought. According to Xbox CEO Asha Sharma, the company is working on a 'family of devices' under the Helix project.
This means that Microsoft will have multiple products in its Helix lineup, rather than a single device. The confirmation comes after Sharma made a comment during an interview with BBC News at Gamescom, where she mentioned that Project Helix expands beyond a single console.
The development of the first-party console is already underway, and Microsoft plans to ship alpha versions of Project Helix hardware to developers beginning in 2027. The system will use AMD hardware and be developed to run both console and PC games.
