Heyman's Warner Bros. Era Ends with New Deal at Amazon MGM Studios
Amazon MGM Studios has secured a first-look film deal with veteran producer David Heyman's production company, Heyday Films. The agreement will give Amazon MGM Studios priority access to scripted and unscripted live-action and animated films produced by Heyday Films. This new partnership comes after Heyman's recent departure from Warner Bros., where he had been under a string of first-look deals for nearly three decades.
Heyman is known for his work on several notable franchises, including Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts, as well as films like Barbie and Gravity. He will continue to produce these projects, among others, under the new deal with Amazon MGM Studios. The James Bond film, which Heyman is already producing with Amy Pascal, does not fall under this agreement.
The move to Amazon MGM Studios comes at a time of uncertainty for Warner Bros., as Paramount's acquisition of parent company Warner Bros. Discovery looms large. Several high-profile talent have recently departed the studio, including Quinta Brunson, who joined Disney's 20th TV Television after her overall deal with WBTV expired.
