Hims & Hers Health Hit with Visa Penalties Over Weight-Loss Subscription Disputes
Telehealth company Hims & Hers Health is facing penalties from Visa after customer credit card disputes in its weight-loss subscription business surged beyond acceptable limits. According to Bloomberg, Visa enrolled HIMS into its Acquirer Monitoring Program following a spike in user complaints and transaction chargebacks in July 2026.
As a result of the increased number of disputes, each dispute now carries an $8 fee, adding up to nearly $75,000 that will hit the company in September. To be removed from the monitoring program, Hims must lower its credit card dispute rate below 1.5% of total transactions for three straight months.
The weight-loss membership plan costs $39 for the first month, then $149 after that, with automatic renewals. Hims is now exploring ways to better warn customers about upcoming charges to avoid surprise bills.
