The developer of Venice Crossing has announced plans to bring two big-box stores to the shopping center under construction in Venice, Florida. Home Depot and Walmart will sit about 900 feet from Laurel Road, with a proposed store size of 170,995 square feet for Walmart.

The smaller commercial sites between the stores and passing traffic are being reserved for various tenants, including RaceTrac and Mavis Tires & Brakes. The developer expects to finish site work this summer, followed by construction on individual parcels, with the first businesses opening in spring 2027.

Two signalized entrances from Laurel Road will feed an internal road connecting the anchors with the smaller storefronts. The Venice Planning Commission will consider the development's proposed sign plan on August 18.
