Home Depot Beats Forecasts Amid 'Frozen' Housing Market
Home Depot's latest financial report shows the company beating analyst forecasts for profit and revenue in its fiscal second quarter of 2026. The retailer reported adjusted profits of $4.92 per share, topping the expected figure of $4.73 from analysts.
The sales growth was driven by a 5.7% increase overall, with comparable-store sales rising 1.7%. This is the strongest comparable-store sales gain since the third quarter of fiscal 2022, according to CFO Richard McPhail.
Despite beating forecasts, Home Depot chose to leave its full-year 2026 outlook unchanged, citing uncertainty in the housing market. The company's CEO, Ted Decker, is taking temporary medical leave, with Ann-Marie Campbell overseeing day-to-day operations and McPhail handling financial management and the pro business.
