Home Depot Beats Q2 Earnings Expectations with Strong Revenue Growth
Home Depot has reported stronger-than-expected second-quarter earnings for fiscal 2026. The company's diluted earnings per share came in at $4.79, beating Wall Street's consensus estimate of $4.73.
Adjusted diluted earnings per share reached $4.92 for the quarter ended August 2, 2026, up from $4.68 in the prior-year period. Revenue climbed to $47.86 billion, a 5.7% increase year over year and surpassing the expected $47.27 billion.
Comparable sales rose 1.7%, outpacing the Street's expectation of 0.9% growth. This marked Home Depot's highest comparable sales performance since the third quarter of 2022, according to CFO Richard McPhail, who attributed it to broad-based customer engagement despite ongoing economic headwinds.
The company reaffirmed its full fiscal 2026 guidance, including total sales growth of approximately 2.5% to 4.5%, comparable sales growth of approximately flat to 2.0%, and adjusted diluted earnings-per-share growth of approximately flat to 4.0%. The guidance includes expected tariff refunds under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA), which will partially offset unplanned fuel, energy, and other product input costs throughout the year.
