Home Depot Ceiling Fans Recalled Over Detaching Blades
Nearly 9,460 ceiling fans sold at Home Depot stores nationwide and online are being pulled from service after federal regulators found their blades can snap off the motor while spinning.
The recalled Hampton Bay Halwin 52-inch fans, sold for about $180 apiece, come in matte black or brushed nickel finishes and include a wall or handheld remote and an adjustable white LED light.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission designated the action Recall No. 26-702 on August 13, formalizing a hazard tied to blades separating from the fan's motor flywheel, according to the agency.
Sales of the fans were made at Home Depot stores and online from January 2023 through October 2025, a stretch of roughly 34 months. This discrepancy matters for anyone who bought a Halwin fan outside the narrower window, since the CPSC's broader timeline means units purchased in early 2023 or as recently as late 2025 are also covered by the recall.
The CPSC is telling anyone who owns one of the fans to stop using it immediately and return the fan directly to any Home Depot store for a full refund or store credit, or pursue an online claim with Youngo for an ACH electronic transfer or a Home Depot gift card.
