Home Depot Faces Calls to End Flock Technology Amid Immigration Concerns
Atlanta-based Home Depot is facing growing calls to end its Flock technology at its stores. The technology allows law enforcement agencies, including Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), to conduct surveillance on store parking lots and enter stores without a judicial warrant.
The calls come from Indivisible ATL Chair Al Solove, who says the company should develop a policy to deter ICE from staging raids in its parking lots. 'The Home Depot should develop a policy that deters ICE from staging and conducting raids in its parking lots and entering its stores without a judicial warrant,' Solove said.
Home Depot's website states that it is not involved with or coordinate any immigration action, but the company has faced criticism for allowing law enforcement to use its technology without clear guidelines. The issue highlights the tension between corporate interests and social responsibility in the face of changing immigration policies.
