Home Depot Institutes Interim Leadership Amid CEO's Medical Leave
The Home Depot (NYSE: HD) has established an interim leadership structure during Chair, President and CEO Ted Decker's temporary medical leave. Two longtime executives will oversee day-to-day operations and financial management until Decker returns within the next few months.
Senior Executive Vice President Ann-Marie Campbell will be responsible for operating organization oversight, while Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Richard McPhail will manage financial matters and Home Depot's Pro subsidiaries. Independent Lead Director Greg Brenneman will chair the board during Decker's absence.
The arrangement divides responsibilities among executives already deeply involved in the company rather than appointing a single interim CEO, providing leadership continuity for the world's largest home improvement retailer. According to Brenneman, 'The Home Depot has the best management team in retail.' He added that Campbell and McPhail are strong, seasoned executives who have worked together for more than 20 years.
