Home Depot Posts Solid Q2 Sales Amid Housing Market Slump
Home Depot's second-quarter sales have seen an improvement, thanks to customers focusing on smaller projects during the summer months. Revenue rose to $47.86 billion from $45.28 billion, beating Wall Street's expectation of $47.24 billion.
Chief Financial Officer Richard McPhail stated that there was broad-based demand across the business as customers continued to engage in smaller projects. This is a welcome trend for Home Depot, but the company remains cautious about the housing market, which has been in a slump since 2022 due to rising mortgage rates.
According to Neil Saunders of GlobalData, while the number of smaller projects increased by 1.5% year-over-year, bigger-ticket projects remain down by 2.1%. This is attributed to concerns around financing and a lack of moving activity.
