Home Depot Sales Get Boost From Smaller Projects Amid Slumping Housing Market
Home Depot reported a boost in quarterly sales as customers focused on smaller projects during the summer months, despite the U.S. housing market still being in a slump. Revenue increased to $47.86 billion from $45.28 billion, beating Wall Street's expected $47.24 billion, according to FactSet.
The company attributed the improvement to customers prioritizing smaller projects, such as home renovations and maintenance, during the summer months when weather permits outdoor work.
Despite this quarterly sales increase, Home Depot's outlook for the housing market remains unchanged, with the sector still experiencing a slump. The company's revenue growth is seen as a positive sign, but it may not be enough to offset the challenges posed by the stagnant housing market.
