Home Depot Sees Resilience in Pressured Market
The Home Depot presented its message of resilience at the Goldman Sachs Global Consumer and Retail Conference. Despite a still-pressured market, executives said the home-improvement chain is taking share, thanks to years of investment in delivery and supply chain.
The company reported that 13 out of 16 merchandising categories posted positive comparable sales in the second quarter, with strength in plumbing, electrical, hardware, and tools. Management highlighted long-term investments paying off, with 65% of parcel shipments going out same-day or next-day and 55% of big and bulky items delivered within two days.
The pro segment remains a major growth engine for the company, with eight straight quarters of positive comparable sales and $400 million in cross-selling synergies expected in 2026. Executives said tariff refunds were used to preserve everyday low pricing rather than expand margins, while full-year guidance was maintained.
