Home Depot Sees Strong Growth in Smaller Home Improvement Projects
Home improvement retailer Home Depot has reported a significant increase in net sales and comparable sales for the second quarter of its 2026 fiscal year. Net sales rose by $2.6 billion, or 5.7%, while comparable sales increased by 1.7%. According to CFO Richard McPhail, this growth can be attributed to smaller, more budget-friendly projects.
The trend is also reflected in foot traffic data from Placer.ai, which shows that visits to Home Depot remained relatively stable during the second quarter. This suggests that consumers are not abandoning home improvement projects entirely, but rather choosing smaller and more manageable options.
To respond to this cautious consumer behavior, Home Depot has expanded its Express Delivery service nationwide. This allows customers to receive thousands of items in three hours or less for a small flat fee. The service does not require a subscription or membership, and shoppers can view eligibility on individual product pages or at checkout.
