Home Depot has been praised for its efforts in refurbishing a classroom at Ivanna Eudora Kean High School on the island of St. Thomas, just days before the start of the new school year.

The project was led by Col. Okera Anyabwile, a senior army instructor at the school, who had been trying to get his classroom repaired for students' comfort.

Anyabwile shared in a video that he visited his classroom recently and found it infested with rodent droppings and in need of a paint job. He called on the territory's elected officials to follow through on their commitments to students by improving their learning environments.

Home Depot stepped in, with store manager Destin Thompson responding quickly to Anyabwile's plea for materials to fix his classroom.
