Honeywell Aerospace Unit Faces $2 Million Cybersecurity Settlement
Honeywell International stock took a hit in early September as its aerospace unit agreed to pay $2 million to resolve allegations it failed to comply with cybersecurity requirements tied to a US Department of Defense contract.
The settlement, which was announced on September 2, 2026, contributed to Honeywell's underperformance compared to the Dow Jones Industrial Average. The company's stock closed at $206.07, down 1.86% from the previous session, while the Dow gained 0.56%.
The cybersecurity issues in question occurred between April 2020 and December 2023 and involved false claims for payment relating to cybersecurity compliance for a Honeywell network used in connection with a Department of Defense contract. The settlement amount is relatively modest compared to Honeywell's overall scale, but it arrives at a time when valuation and dividend sustainability are closely watched.
An analysis by GuruFocus suggests that Honeywell stock appears about 8.6% overvalued based on its GF Value model, which estimates the company's intrinsic value to be around $192.42 per share.
