A proposed new McDonald's restaurant in Hornchurch town centre has moved closer to opening after Havering Council approved plans for new signs.

The signs, including two illuminated shopfront signs and the iconic 'Golden Arch' logo above the entrance, were deemed to be of 'appropriate design, scale and mass', causing no significant adverse impacts on neighboring properties or the area's character and appearance.

The planning application for a McDonald's restaurant at the former Poundland site is still under consideration, but if approved, it would create more than 120 full and part-time jobs as part of a 'multi-million pound' project. The restaurant would have 125 seats and a new side lobby, with changes proposed at the rear to accommodate storage, parking, and staff cycle lockers.
