Hotel Goldener Hirsch Still Shines After Fine-Dining Restaurant Closure
Hotel Goldener Hirsch in Salzburg has maintained its charm after multiple visits. A recent stay involved two separate bookings made through different programs - American Express Fine Hotels + Resorts and Marriott STARS. Both secured Junior Suites, but with unique layouts due to the hotel's centuries-old architecture.
The suites featured exposed beams, uneven ceilings, and mismatched decor. One suite had a shower beam that required ducking, while another had a tub instead. No two rooms mirrored each other.
During the stay in 2026, the fine-dining restaurant at Hotel Goldener Hirsch closed on April 23rd, replaced by the casual Herzl. Staff acknowledged displaced guests personally and explained staffing challenges.
Despite the loss of the upscale dining experience, attentive service compensated for it. Management is considering repurposing the space but has ensured that core hospitality values remain intact.
